Drought worsens in Wiregrass counties

E.Martin40 min ago

DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN) — Drought conditions are worsening in portions of the western Wiregrass.

As of the U.S. Drought Monitor update on Thursday, at 8:00 a.m., Covington County and portions of Coffee, Dale, and Geneva counties are under a moderate drought.

Conditions in Henry and Dale counties are still abnormally dry and have not worsened since the Drought Monitor update on Thursday, October 24.

This comes after Hurricane Rafael pushed small amounts of rain into the Wiregrass as it made its way through the Gulf of Mexico, but not enough to impact the drought.

There is still no sign of significant rainfall in the forecast.

On October 30, the Alabama Forestry Commission issued a Fire Danger Advisory for all 67 Alabama counties.
