Ex-BPD officer involved in deadly S. Vineland Rd. crash to be sentenced Friday

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A former Bakersfield police officer who was involved in a deadly crash, who took a plea deal will learn his fate in court Friday.

The crash happened in January 2023, north of Lamont on South Vineland Road, when Ricardo Robles was racing to assist in the apprehension of a reported stolen car.

Ex-BPD officer pleads no contest to vehicular manslaughter

Robles slammed into two Grimmway farms workers driving home.

One of those workers, Mario Lares, died at the scene.

Robles pleaded no contest to a charge of vehicular manslaughter on October 17th.
