Father arrested, accused of helping son shoot at fleeing SUV near stadium in Pasco
A Pasco father and son allegedly brought pistols to a fistfight in front of an Irving Street home this August.
Marcos R. Magana, 47, and Lorenzo Cruz Magana, 22, are accused of opening fire on an SUV full of people south of Edgar Brown Stadium on Aug. 11.
Lorenzo had been arrested shortly after the shooting, and now his father Marcos is accused of four counts of first-degree assault. Pasco police arrested Marcos Tuesday and booked him into the Franklin County jail, said Lt. Chad Pettijohn
It remains an open investigation, Pettijohn said.
The shooting started with an argument between Lorenzo and his girlfriend, who was the sister Jose Ruelas, one of the victims, according to court documents. The couple had gotten into a fight that required police to be called earlier in the day.
Ruelas allegedly heard Lorenzo insulting him, his sister and one other man. He called Lorenzo and they agreed to fight each other, according to court documents.
Ruelas and three other men went to the Magana house on Irving Street in a GMC Yukon for the fight and met Lorenzo about a block away.
After some yelling, Ruelas and the others felt like something bad was going to happen, and they got back into their Yukon.
As they were speeding away, the Maganas allegedly pulled out guns and began shooting. Investigators say a doorbell camera video shows the men shooting, court documents said. No one is seen firing from the GMC Yukon.
Another video shows Marcos handing a pistol to his wife while he kept one.
Police found several 9mm and .380 caliber shell casings from where Marcos and Lorenzo had been standing.
Investigators found five bullet holes in the driver's side of the SUV. No firearms, shell casings or other signs of guns were found inside the Yukon when police searched it.
When police searched the Magana home, they found seven guns, according to a Facebook post.
When police spoke with him, Lorenzo claimed that the other men were firing at him.
