Field catches fire near Gibson City
GIBSON CITY, Ill. (WCIA) — Gibson City firefighters responded to a field fire that quickly got out of control on Sunday.
The fire happened about three miles north of Gibson City. Two fire trucks from the Gibson City Fire Department responded to put out the flames and stop it from spreading further.
Central Illinois is under an elevated fire risk on Sunday due to a drop in humidity and higher gusts of wind. Several fire departments across the area have urged residents not to burn, and warned farmers to be extra careful when harvesting as there is an increased potential for field fires.
