Firefighters respond to smoke at Joplin hotel

S.Brown48 min ago

JOPLIN, Mo. — Reports of fire cause more than a dozen people to be evacuated from a Joplin hotel.

Around seven this evening, firefighters from multiple agencies responded to the Best Western hotel on South Range Line Road.

Joplin Deputy Fire Chief Andy Nimmo says the fire marshal determined that the fire began in an exterior wall assembly, and couldn't rule out discarded smoking materials as the cause.

Hotel managers tell us 15 guests were evacuated and will be moved to other rooms at the hotel.

No injuries were reported.
