Florida Inmate Found Guilty Of Manslaughter In Fatal Lake County Prison Stabbing

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – A Lake County jury has found 51-year-old Antonio Carter guilty of manslaughter with a weapon in the death of fellow inmate Adonis Boone, 27. The verdict came yesterday after a trial that presented compelling evidence of Carter's guilt.

The incident occurred on June 8, 2017, at the Lake Correctional Institute where both men were incarcerated on unrelated charges. A heated argument between Carter and Boone escalated into violence when Carter pulled out a makeshift knife and stabbed Boone in the chest.

Corrections officers responded to the scene, apprehending Carter and providing aid to Boone. However, the stab wound severed a major artery, and Boone tragically succumbed to his injuries.

Crucial testimony from a corrections officer revealed that Carter had expressed a desire to kill Boone, stating, "I hope I killed him! I tried to kill him." This statement, along with evidence gathered by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, solidified the case against Carter.

"Whether you are out in the general public or confined in the general population of a correctional facility, the same laws apply," said Walter Forgie, Chief State Attorney. "The defendant was already in possession of dangerous contraband and elevated his criminal act by using it to fatally attack a fellow inmate."

Assistant State Attorneys Edward Moffitt and Steven Miller prosecuted the case, securing justice for Adonis Boone.
