Forecast: The coldest air so far season is set to move in this week
Fairly comfortable weather is expected across the region through the rest of the weekend. We will continue to battle some cloud coverage through the overnight and into Sunday. We also may be waking up to patchy fog Sunday morning as temperatures drop down into the upper 60s which will be near the dew points coupled with calm winds. However, that wind will burn off fairly quickly.
Any fog that develops will erode quickly as warm southerly winds kick in through the morning. This comes as we enter the warm sector ahead of the next cold front. Therefore, our Sunday will be a bit warmer with slightly more muggy air. Due to the increased warmth and moisture, a stray shower will be possible through the afternoon and evening. Most areas will stay dry and mild throughout the day.
After Sunday we will be tracking a cold front into Florida by Monday. It is expected to clear Southwest Florida later in the day; therefore, it will not have an impact on Monday’s temperatures. Highs will be in the mid to lower 80s. However, it could spark another stray shower and clouds will be pushing through. The biggest impact will be the chilly air behind the front which will start to be felt in our area by Tuesday morning.
Tuesday and Wednesday we will see the coldest air so far this season. Temperatures are expected to only reach around 70 degrees for a high Tuesday and plummet to the lower 50s and even upper 40s for northern areas by Wednesday morning. This is the coldest air we have experienced since last March. Along with the cooler air comes very dry dew points which means no moisture for rain chances. We are looking to stay dry through the rest of the week with a rebound in temperatures by Friday.
