Friday Forecast: Warm and windy yet again

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Expect a near repeat of what we experienced on Thursday as highs are expected to climb into the low to upper 70s once again. Now the key wording there is "near repeat" because low 50s are likely off into the panhandle. The winds although not as windy will still be pretty windy to end the workweek.

Let's start with lows tonight. After seeing our first hard freeze of the season earlier this week, overnight temperatures for the most part will be limited to the 50s! Breezy to windy conditions will help to keep temperatures warm overnight along with some cloud cover as well. Do not expect any seasonal lows for the foreseeable future as well.

Meanwhile highs west of a line from Ogallala to Valentine will likely be below 70 and for that matter generally below 60. East of that line highs surge into the 70s.

As mentioned above it will be windy out there with gusts up to 40 mph once again in central and eastern Nebraska. Fire danger is not expected to be as high due to increasing moisture. In fact, showers and maybe a few storms are possible in the afternoon and evening to the west as a front approaches (hence the cooler temperatures).

The 70s for the most part do not look to be going away anytime soon as mid to upper 70s are likely through the weekend. The one day the temperatures do drop is the day we are expecting rain in the area! This is not expected to be a "drought buster" by any means, but any rain is welcome rain at this point.
