Harris County officials announce fire safety campaign ahead of holidays

HOUSTON ( KIAH ) — Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo and Harris County Fire Marshal Laurie Christensen will hold a press conference regarding the fire code updates after Hurricane Beryl. The meeting will also address emergency preparedness for our senior citizen community.

Hidalgo will announce the C.H.A.R.G.E. campaign that will showcase proper disposal and storage of lithium-ion batteries and electronics that contain them and understand the importance of certified safe products over the holidays for gift giving.

The meeting will include Judge Hidalgo, Harris County Fire Marshal, Chief Laurie Christensen and Coordinator for the Harris County Office of Emergency Management Mark Sloan. The meeting will take place at the Harris County Administration Building at 1:00 p.m. today.
