Helen Yakabovicz, of Slocum Street, Swoyersville, died Wednesday at the
Hospice VNA at the Heritage House, Wilkes-Barre.
Born in Swoyersville, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Elizabeth
(Chismar) Chergosky. She was a member of Holy Name/St. Mary’s Church,
Swoyersville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; brothers, John Chergosky
and Michael Cheremsak; and sisters, Anna and Mary Cheremsak.
Surviving are her daughter, Theresa Sabol, Hanover Township; sons, Joseph,
Wilkes-Barre; and Walter, Swoyersville; eight grandchildren, 14
great-grandchildren; sisters, Irene Samuels, Trucksville; and Elizabeth Yonik,
Swoyersville; brothers, Nicholas Cheremsak, Manville, N.J.; and Andrew
Cheremsak, Swoyersville; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday from the Lehman-Gregory Funeral
Home, Inc., 281 Chapel St., Swoyersville, with a Mass of Christian Burial at
Swoyersville. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. There will
be a Christian wake service on Friday.
