Illinois residents impacted by severe weather and flooding in July can now apply for federal assistance.

On Monday, President Joe Biden approved an disaster declaration in Illinois from the severe weather that hit the state from July 13 to July 16.

Residents in Cook, Fulton, Henry, St Clair, Washington, Will and Winnebago are eligible for the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) Individual Assistance

"FEMA's Individual Assistance could include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses, and other programs to help individuals and business owners recover from the effects of the severe weather," a press release stated.

Thirty-two tornadoes were confirmed in the NWS Chicago forecast area in July, which is the most from a single severe weather event on record, since reliable tornado records began in 1950.
