Hundreds of portraits of those lost in war and conflict will be displayed for three remembrance exhibitions.

The Ipswich War Memorial Project will have the exhibitions in place across the town for the upcoming remembrance period.

The initiative was set up to digitally preserve images and create profiles on those in the town who had lost their lives in both world wars and up to the present.

One display has already been put in place inside St Margaret's Church with two more to be set up at Christchurch Park and at Ipswich Old Cemetery.

On Tuesday, numerous portraits of men lost during World War One were displayed inside St Margaret's Church in Bolton Lane. They can be viewed there until 17 November.

The second exhibition at Christchurch Park's war memorial and cenotaph will also have hundreds of portraits of those lost in both world wars and other conflicts.

These will be displayed over the remembrance weekend.

The memorial celebrated 100 years since it was installed in May and similarly had over 930 portraits displayed to remember those lost.

On Monday at 11:00 GMT, a service for local schoolchildren will take place at the cenotaph as well as at the two Fields of Honour at Ipswich Old Cemetery.

The Ipswich War Memorial Project has been granted permission from the Commonwealth War Graves Commission to display its portraits at the graves of those laid to rest at the two Fields of Honour.
