Sports Jets' Jermaine Johnson Gives Positive Update on Achilles Surgery

It's clear that Jermaine Johnson won't be playing another down for the New York Jets for the rest of the 2024 season.

After tearing his Achilles in New York's Week 2 victory over the Tennessee Titans, Johnson has been a source of inspiration for his teammates - especially after their 24-3 victory against the New England Patriots.

It's been a busy week for Johnson since the injury. Just Friday evening, the third-year edge defender announced that he finally had the surgery to repair his Achilles.

"Surgery was a success!! Thank you, God," Johnson said in a tweet.

Johnson was believed to be a breakout candidate in his third season after increasing his sack total by five from his rookie to sophomore season.

Despite the hopes, Johnson will now spend the remainder of the 2024 season recovering from his Achilles injury. He's had an excellent attitude throughout the injury recovery process and appears prepared to make a full recovery.

Typical Achilles surgeries usually have players returning in the nine-month window. That means Johnson should be able to return to the team for minicamp and the start of training camp without any major limitations.

Having a successful surgery should help his overall recovery at least.
