Judge accepts guilty plea in Las Vegas deadly DUI crash

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – A judge accepted a Las Vegas man's guilty plea on Monday in the killing of his on-and-off girlfriend. Alejandro Cisneros, 36, was initially charged with open murder and leaving the scene of an accident for the death of 28-year-old Alondra Rivera. But his charges were dropped on Monday to driving under the influence resulting in death after he pleaded guilty, according to court records. Rivera died on June 28 when police found her body on the road near Nellis and Charleston.

According to court documents, Cisneros told police that he and Rivera were in a fight after consuming cocaine and alcohol.

Cisneros told detectives Rivera refused to get out of his white 2020 Dodge Durango GT. He claims she hit him, so he tossed her purse and shoes out of the car. He also told police he pulled her hair to make her exit his vehicle.

Once outside, Rivera jumped on the hood of his vehicle and Cisneros began to drive slowly. She eventually fell from the hood and hit her head on the ground, according to police. Cisneros left the scene.

As part of their investigation, officers located several videos that recorded the incident from a distance. From listening to the audio, detectives believe the driver of the car, later identified as Cisneros, "made deliberate accelerations and hard braking with [Rivera] on the hood of the SUV at least twice, in a calculated attempt to remove her from the vehicle."

Cisneros and Rivera were involved in a previous domestic incident at Resorts World on April 2, documents said. In that case, Rivera told police Cisneros "became very angry and slapped her in the face." At that time, Rivera described Cisneros as her ex-boyfriend.

His sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 11 in Clark County District Court.
