Saturday is National Fried Chicken Sandwich Day, and some Los Angeles restaurants are helping chicken sandwich lovers celebrate accordingly.

One such location is Chimmelier , which has a pop-up at Smorgsburg L.A. and a brick-and-mortar location in Koreatown.

Calling itself "The Chicken Sommelier," this local spot is offering a special buy one, get one free deal on their K-Chicken Burger, their take on the fried chicken sandwich.

Chimmelier co-owner Kevin Son explained to KTLA 5's Erin Myers that their K-Chicken Burger is different from a regular chicken sandwich.

"Our number one rule is that the chicken needs to be bigger than the bun," Kevin said shortly after Myers remarked that she had never seen a chicken sandwich that "ginormous" in her life. "They come on a brioche bun with our house made Kimchi Thousand Islands, a Perilla leaf, Korean pickles, pickled red cabbage...and it is seasoned with our signature dry seasoning."

Kevin said that the seasoning "definitely looks spicier than it actually tastes" and added that the restaurant calls them "chicken burgers" in homage to what the sandwiches are called in Korea.

Chimmelier, which started during the COVID-19 pandemic as a pop-up shop, is opening a third location in the Melrose Arts District later this year, according to their Instagram .

The restaurant's Koreatown location is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. for those looking to take advantage of Chimmelier's BOGO deal.
