‘Liverpool don’t sign players like Garnacho’ – Damien Delaney believes Man United’s problems go beyond Erik ten Hag

Speaking on the inaugural football episode of the Indo Sport podcast, Delaney shared his belief that a bad culture has set into the Manchester United camp, a squad who disintegrated during a 3-0 home loss to Tottenham on Sunday.

"United have no legs in their team," Delaney told Joe Molloy on the Irish Independent's new sports podcast.

"They sign players who either can't run or won't run.

"It's very hard for a coach to come in now. Players are like race horses, you know, they're bred for a certain purpose.

"That's why when Liverpool and all these teams, they won't sign players like (Alejandro) Garnacho, no matter how good they are, because they don't fit into what they're trying to do in terms of pressing.

"I know that's a strange example, but you sign players that fit your ethos, and the first thing United have to do is figure out how they want to play."

"You can listen to the full analysis of Damien Delaney, Daniel McDonnell, Conán Doherty and Joe Molloy now on the Indo Sport podcast, available wherever you get your shows.
