Local weekend roundup: Butte volleyball maintains first place, Dillon beats Central

The Butte High volleyball team opened last week with a sweep over Missoula Big Sky last Thursday. The scores of the game were 25-20, 25-16, 25-19. With the victory, Butte improved its Western AA record to 6-1, maintaining its first-place position.

Seniors Peyton Trabert and Sophia Gransbery led the Bulldogs' offensive attack, each providing seven kills in the victory.

Senior Jaycee Cleveland led Butte with 24 assists while sophomore Cadence Graham played a key role defensively with 16 digs.

On Saturday, the Bulldogs played four Eastern AA opponents in three-set games. Butte struggled on the day, falling to Skyview, West, Senior and Belgrade, 2-0 in each game.

The Bulldogs are back in action this week with a home game against Missoula Sentinel on Tuesday followed by a road outing against Hellgate on Thursday.

On Thursday, the Dillon volleyball team defeated Butte Central, 3-0. The scores of the game were 25-9, 25-15 and 25-6.

Kylie Konen led the Beavers with 12 kills in the win while Ady Creighton added 10 kills. Kinzy Creighton led Dillon with 28 assists.
