LYNN HAVEN, Fla. ( WMBB ) — Lynn Haven commissioners are almost ready to put a bow on top of the 2024-25 budget.

They haven't made any changes to the spending plan since they first approved it earlier this month.

"Tuesday, we have our final vote to move forward with that and be ready to start our new projects on October 1," Lynn Haven Mayor Jesse Nelson said.

Residents can expect a slight increase in the millage rate to 4.05 as well as stormwater assessment fees. City officials say the increase is the result of rising inflation rates both nationally and locally.

"It seems like the commission is in a consensus to move forward with that and with those funds," Nelson said.

City officials say they'll also be able to pursue some long-awaited stormwater projects once the budget is passed.

"We're updating our maintenance on our ditch, digging, using our vacuum to draw out the various sediments and things that are in the ditches," Nelson said.

They'll also be reopening the old city hall.

"Our old city hall is going to have something old, something new. With something old, there's going to be some memorabilia that's in there that are relics of the history of this great city. There's something new. There's going to be office space in there for the mayor and commissioners," Nelson said.

These projects will go underway once the budget is passed on October 1. The total budget is $52 million. The final budget vote will be during Tuesday's commission meeting.
