The incident happened at the Go Happy gas station on the Meriden-Waterbury Turnpike. Officials said that a 911 caller reported that a Black man had entered the gas station, displayed a handgun and demanded money. He then allegedly walked behind the counter and took cash out of the register himself.
Police said that multiple other robberies happened on the Meriden-Waterbury Turnpike earlier this week, and that the description of the suspect matched this one. Officers arrested the suspect, 33-year-old Jeremy Edmond, as he was entering the ramp onto I-84. He was held on a $1 million bond and appeared in court on Thursday.
