Man critically injured in hit-and-run in Downtown Albuquerque

Nov. 16—A man is in critical condition after a driver struck them Friday night in Downtown Albuquerque.

The man was riding a skateboard or electric scooter at the time, Albuquerque police spokesman Gilbert Gallegos said.

The driver reportedly fled the scene in a dark-colored sedan before officers arrived.

He said officers responded shortly before 10 p.m. to the crash at Broadway and Central. The man was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

The driver was headed north on Broadway, striking the man as they crossed Central, Gallegos said. Witnesses reported the man was riding a skateboard at the time but officers who responded said he was on an electric scooter.

"This is an ongoing investigation and all evidence on scene was collected and gathered by detectives," he said.
