NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A 20-year-old man was booked into Metro Jail Friday morning after he allegedly sped away from police along Interstate 40 with drugs in the car, marking his second time fleeing from law enforcement in a two-week span, authorities said.

According to an arrest report, detectives observed a gray Dodge Charger with an Alabama license plate in the westbound lanes of Interstate 40 on Thursday, Nov. 14.

Authorities reported detectives believed the Dodge was the same vehicle that fled from them in the same area a week prior.

While on the interstate, a Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) helicopter tracked the Dodge as it reached speeds of more than 100 miles per hour in a 55 miles per hour zone, states an arrest report.

The helicopter reportedly observed the Dodge exit onto Charlotte Pike and then turn onto Burgess Avenue. That's when a detective attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle as it approached Bellmore Avenue.

Instead of stopping, the Dodge accelerated up a hill and later came to a stop at the end of a road where the driver –identified as 20-year-old Brian Hamilton– exited the vehicle and began yelling at detectives, according to an arrest report.

Hamilton was taken into custody and detectives said they advised the remaining occupants to exit the vehicle.

As law enforcement approached, they reported there was "an apparent odor of marijuana" coming from the vehicle. A search of the Dodge revealed approximately 119 grams of marijuana in multiple bags, a digital scale and several zip lock baggies, which detectives say are "consistent with street level illegal narcotics sales."

Hamilton was charged with possession with intent of a Scheduled VI drug, unlawful use of drug paraphernalia and evading arrest in a motor vehicle.

According to court records, Hamilton was released from jail just before 5 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 15.
