SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — The San Francisco Fire Department (SFFD) said that a man was apprehended at Zuckerberg General Hospital for stealing equipment from an ambulance and breaking its windows.

Man shot to death in Redwood City, police say

The incident occurred Friday night at the public hospital, located at 1001 Potrero Avenue in the city's Mission District, while crews were offloading and attending to an emergency patient.

SFFD noted that one paramedic suffered minor injuries from the shattered glass. Officials confirmed that the suspect was taken into custody "before they could hurt themselves and others" by both SFFD and the San Francisco Sheriff's Office, Capt. Shore of SFFD told KRON4 News.

While authorities did not disclose the specific details of the stolen equipment, they described it as "big and heavy," and confirmed that it was returned.

At the time of the incident, seven ambulances were on-site at Zuckerberg General, but thanks to the quick actions of the medics and EMTs, only one vehicle sustained damage, according to SFFD.
