MI Boy, 14, Dead; Another Injured In Thumb Area Crash: Police Investigators did not say why the unlicensed teenage boys were driving around without an adult.

TUSCOLA COUNTY, MI — A 14-year-old boy was killed and another 14-year-old boy was injured in a weekend crash in the Thumb area, according to Michigan State Police.

The crash happened at 4:20 p.m. Saturday in the area of Broadway and North Murray roads in Ellington Township, which is roughly 95 miles north of Detroit, according to police.

Police said a 14-year-old Bay City boy was driving a 2001 Cadillac in the area of Broadway and Murray roads where he smashed into a tree.

Officers found a 14-year-old Kawkawlin boy entrapped in the back of the car with life-threatening injuries, according to police.

He later died at the scene, according to police.

The Bay City boy suffered serious injuries in the crash and was taken to a nearby hospital where he was listed in stable condition, according to police.

Investigators did not say why the unlicensed teenage boys were driving around without an adult.

Investigators will turn over their investigation to the Tuscola County Prosecutor's Office for review of possible criminal charges.
