In his Fall/Winter 2024 collection, Doni Nahmias continues to blend nostalgia, craftsmanship, and contemporary elements into the fashion landscape. Known for his homage to Southern California's surf and skate culture, Nahmias draws deeply from his upbringing in Santa Barbara and his passion for basketball, notably as a fan of the late Kobe Bryant. His latest collection, titled "Summerland Ranch," captures the essence of California's Hope Ranch, fusing the ruggedness of ranch life with coastal city influences.

"Summerland High" for Pre-Spring 2025, offers that rich personal homage to Southern California's skate, surf, and sports culture that Nahmias resonates with. The line debuted on the runway in Los Angeles this year, capturing Nahmias' journey from his humble Santa Barbara roots to the forefront of fashion. Growing up in a mobile home, Nahmias often felt the duality of Santa Barbara's image, understanding one of wealth but also of resilience. This duality resonates deeply in his designs, which balance ruggedness and refinement.

The "Summerland High" Pre-Spring 2025 collection, introduced during his SS25 Runway Show, draws on the vibrant energy of Nahmias' youth. With pieces such as wool-blend pleated trousers, leather bombers, and denim cargos, it channels Southern California's distinct style, crafted with a high-end touches. Set against the architectural splendor of Noble House, a Beverly Hills mansion, styled by architect Max Nobel, completes the collection in the Nahmias campaign, merging these nostalgic pieces with stunning views of the California mountains.

When asked about his journey, Nahmias recalls the humble beginnings of his brand. "I grew up in Santa Barbara, which has this image of a rich community. But I actually grew up in a mobile home. My mom's a teacher, and my dad drives Uber. The whole idea of moving from Santa Barbara, not knowing anyone, and chasing this dream of being a designer—it felt like my own version of a miracle." This personal narrative runs throughout the collection, reflecting both his passion and perseverance.

The "Summerland Ranch" collection stands out for its innovative design and material choices. Nahmias' attention to detail shines through, especially in the use of Italian moleskin fabrics, and denim treatments that incorporate playful baked sun motifs. These nods to California's sunshine are layered into the pieces, visually connecting the elements of nature and coastal style.

"We played with floral patterns and nostalgia, tapping into high school-era vibes," Nahmias shares. "For instance, we used flowers to symbolize growth and beauty, incorporating floral motifs into denim with patchwork and beading done in Italy." The use of hand-beading on flannel shirts, a traditionally rugged item, brings a juxtaposition of delicate craftsmanship and everyday streetwear. "I like taking something like a grungy, oversized flannel and adding delicate beading," he adds.

The collection's color palette reflects the scenic landscapes of Santa Barbara, merging the mountains and sea—an embodiment of the "California Cowboy" aesthetic Nahmias aims to project. This vision of coastal and ranch life culminates in pieces that move effortlessly between traditional and modern influences. Nahmias' commitment to creating a luxury menswear line anchored in his personal journey and cultural heritage is clear.

Nahmias also reflected on the success of his "Miracle" trucker hat, a piece that has become symbolic for his brand. He describes its impact, sharing how the design emerged during a tough period. "We had our first season in Paris. We were super broke, barely figuring out how to cover our Airbnb, and we didn't even have our flight back. Then Justin Bieber wore the 'Miracle' hat, and we sold out." That moment marked a turning point for the brand, with Nahmias and his team pushing forward despite the odds.

"Athletes and musicians really connect with it because they all have their grind stories, their moment. They each have their own version of a 'miracle,'" he notes, highlighting how this story has resonated with so many in the entertainment world.

As Nahmias looks ahead to his next runway show in Paris, his sights are set on further growth. With an emphasis on partnerships and innovation, he's already mood-boarding for the next collection, continuing to develop his craft while staying rooted in the California lifestyle that inspires him.

The "Summerland Ranch" collection and the Pre-Spring "Summerland High", much like the "Miracle" story, is a testament to Nahmias' journey, merging the past with the present. With each piece, he invites the world into a slice of California's rugged yet refined identity, told through the lens of a designer who continues to break boundaries in contemporary fashion. Doni Nahmias isn't just designing clothing—he's crafting a narrative that connects personal history with global fashion culture.
