Nearly 200 pets find homes at Halloween 'Dogtober' ACS Event!
SAN ANTONIO - Almost 200 pets were adopted into loving homes by families at an ACS festival earlier this week!
On Thursday, San Antonio Animal Care Services (ACS) hosted its Dogtober Fall Festival, setting a record for the department with 176 adoptions at a single event.
Shelter staff worked for weeks before the festival, making agility and entertainment areas, pet meet-and-greet spots, and putting up colorful displays throughout the shelter.
More than 1,700 unique visitors came to the shelter over the span of one day, with adopters coming from 12 different counties, across 25 different cities across Texas.
Almost 130 volunteers came to support the event, totaling over 500 volunteer hours.
The event also featured a "Paw'p-up" marketplace that gave attendees the chance to purchase goods for their new furry friend from small local businesses.
