Norwich teacher receives $25K Milken Educator Award

NORWICH, Conn. — A Norwich teacher received a Milken Educator Award , considered the Oscar, Grammy, or even Nobel prize for teaching!

On Tuesday, Jessica Chapman was in for a surprise when she found out she had been selected for the prestigious award, which comes with a $25,000 cash prize.

The Milken Educator Award honors educators around the country for their achievements and recognizes them for their important work. Every year, up to 45 educators are honored.

"Jessica Chapman has adeptly woven her personal and professional experiences to form a beautiful tapestry of dedication and service to her colleagues, students and her community," Dr. Foley, a 1994 Indiana Milken Educator said in a written statement. "Her nurturing, inquisitive spirit encourages students to expand their horizons, and her leadership and mentorship are gifts to her peers and to Norwich Free Academy's mission of developing global citizens. We are thrilled to welcome Jessica to the Milken Educator Network!"

The honorees get to attend an all-expenses-paid Milken Educator Awards Forum in Los Angeles in April 2025.
