One injured, four families displaced in Midvale apartment fire

MIDVALE, Utah ( ABC4 ) — At least one person is injured following an overnight fire at a Midvale apartment complex a few blocks away from East Midvale Elementary School. Unified Fire Authority officials tell ABC4.com the fire was sparked just after 2:30 a.m. from some clothes lying next to a heat source in one of the bottom floor apartments. That fire then spread into the second-floor apartments, damaging three out of four units. More than 800 Utah homes lose power after woman climbs transformer Crews were able to put out the fire quickly and conclude their investigation, turning the scene over to restoration crews. As of 7:00 a.m., the affected units have been boarded up to protect the property and the scene. Four families have been displaced due to the fire and at least one person has been injured. Bob Casey and Republican David McCormick is headed for a statewide recount, as counties continued Wednesday to sort through outstanding ballots and the campaigns jousted over which ones should count.
