Otsego County man accused of 3D printing untraceable firearms

OTSEGO COUNTY, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – An Otsego County man is being accused of owning and manufacturing several firearms and firearm accessories.

The Otsego County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of Jacob Snook, 35, of Gilbertsville. The arrest was subsequent to an investigation into reports of firearms located at a residence during a fire department response to an active structure fire.

According to the Sheriff's Office, an initial investigation revealed that Snook was allegedly in possession of a Glock style ghost gun. Additional information was gathered during the initial investigation and investigators were granted a search warrant for the premises.

During the search warrant, investigators and deputies discovered that Snook was utilizing two 3D printers to manufacture untraceable firearms. Investigators also located multiple incomplete rifle and handgun parts along with 17 loaded high-capacity magazines and drum magazines, tactical gear, and a large quantity of ammunition.

Snook was charged with the following:

Seven counts of Criminal Manufacture of Undetectable Firearm

Two counts of Criminal Possession of a Firearm

Failure to Serialize Firearm

Criminal Possession of a Weapon/Ghost Gun

Two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon

Snook was taken into custody and processed at the Sheriff's Office. He was remanded to the Otsego County Jail to await arraignment.

The Otsego County District Attorney's Office was contacted and recommended bail be set at $10,000 cash, $10,000 credit card or $100,000 surety bond.
