New York Times recently shared a list of its 50 favorite restaurants in the country, and a Lancaster eatery made the cut.

Passerine, a restaurant located at 114 N. Prince St., Lancaster, is one of three Pennsylvania businesses on the New York Times' "The Restaurant List." (Fet-Fisk in Pittsburgh and Little Walter's in Philadelphia were also included.)

Passerine's farm-to-table ethos was highlighted, and the Times praised the restaurant for "quietly serving outstanding dishes made with the bounty of the surrounding farmland and accented by global sensibilities."

Nikita Richardson of the New York Times visited the restaurant in July, and details of her meal reflect summer produce offerings.

"Think perfectly seared scallops set into a colorful salad of sweet summer corn and shishito peppers, or a 25-layer zucchini and goat ricotta crepe cake under a shower of ramp powder," Richardson wrote.

Passerine is owned by Kyle Sollenberger. The Times reported that the restaurant opened in June, but the business debuted in April 2023 .

Last week, Passerine's beverage director Jen Splain won third place in the VeloCity cocktail competition at Tellus360 .

In June, LNP | LancasterOnline featured Passerine for its educational dinners and tasting events .

Richardson's entry about Passerine ended with a call to action.

"Based on my visit in July, it's unclear whether Lancastarians [sic] know that they have an absolute gem of a restaurant in their midst," Richardson wrote. "Consider this a heads-up."
