Person killed after being hit by car in Peoria; road closed

PEORIA, AZ (AZFamily) — A person has died after being struck by a car in the West Valley early Thursday morning. The collision happened around 5 a.m. near 68th and Olive avenues. While details are limited at this time, Peoria police confirm one person has died at the scene. Authorities say the driver stayed at the crash site and is cooperating with officers. Impairment and speed don't appear to be factors in the collision. Olive Avenue is closed in both directions between 67th to 71st Avenues due to the accident. Drivers are advised to find an alternate route for next several hours. The investigation is ongoing.
