PIKE COUNTY, Ala (WDHN) — A Troy man is heading to prison after a Pike County jury found him guilty of breaking into a home before the homeowner found him and pulled a gun in the kitchen, the Pike County District Attorney's Office announced Friday.

On August 13, Quentin Woods was found guilty of burglary in the second degree.

According to the Pike County District Attorney's Office, on March 15, 2023, Woods broke into a home in the Oak Park neighborhood on Elba Highway in Troy by breaking a window and entering through the kitchen.

District Attorney James Tarbox says the homeowner and her friend staying in the house heard the window breaking and held Woods at gunpoint after finding him in the kitchen.

The homeowner called the police, and Woods was arrested on the scene.

Following the trial and conviction, Tarbox says Woods asked for a lighter sentence due to him having a drug problem and a teenage child that he wishes to be around.

The District Attorney argued against this plea, telling Judge Henry "Sonny" Reagan that Woods had multiple felony convictions, including when he was convicted of robbery in 2011 and received a split sentence.

Following the testimony, Judge Reagan sentenced

"Woods is lucky to be alive after breaking into an occupied home in the middle of the night. Further, Defendant Woods' actions have been a terror in the life of our courageous victim, and she will have to live with the anxiety and fear inflicted by this event for the rest of her life," said DA Tarbox in a release to WDHN.
