Plains Junior Legion baseball advances

SCRANTON — Kyle Ofier took a no-hitter into the seventh inning to lead Plains over Bloomsburg 7-3 in the Junior American Legion Eastern Regional tournament at Connell Park on Monday.
George Oko tripled for one of his four hits and Chase Nowak had a bases-clearing double. Eric Christian, Tim Cavanaugh, and Joe DeLucca also contributed hits in the team effort for Plains.
Plains advances to play Northampton at 12:30 p.m. today at Connell Park in Scranton.
Greater Pittston 9, State College 1
Pticher Josh Kopcza pitched 5.2 innings, giving up one run one hit in the Greater Pittston victory Sunday. Dylan Melberger had two hits while Dylan Spurlin hit a bases-clearing double.
STRIKES & STRIPES SOFTBALL
The 16 and under Stripes & Strikes softball team lost its opening game in the ASA/USA 16u A National Championship Tournament in Salem, Virginia, on Monday vs. the Kansas City Peppers. There are 136 teams representing all 50 states participating.
Stripes & Strikes (23-10) qualified for the Nationals by finishing second in the Pennsylvania State Championship tournament. The team plays at noon today against
