An investigation is underway after an apparent shooting at a home in Boston early Thursday morning.

Officers were called to a home at 718 Cummins Highway in the city's Mattapan section, not far from the Blue Hill Avenue MBTA stop.

At least one person was taken to the hospital, although there was no immediate word on the extent of their injuries.

Video from the scene showed the area flooded with flashing police lights as officers scoured the home for evidence. Glass on the front door was also shattered.

Investigators cleared the property just before 4:30 a.m. and the home appeared to have been empty.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -President-elect Donald Trump on Wednesday named incendiary Republican U.S. Representative Matt Gaetz to be his nominee for attorney general, selecting an ally who has faced Justice Department scrutiny to run the agency. "Matt will end Weaponized Government, protect our Borders, dismantle Criminal Organizations and restore Americans' badly-shattered Faith and Confidence in the Justice Department," Trump said in a statement announcing the selection, which would be subject to confirmation by the Republican-majority Senate. The choice of a 42-year-old congressman who has never worked in the Justice Department or as a prosecutor at any level of government was the latest in a wave of Trump nominations of candidates with scant experience.

A judge recused himself Tuesday from presiding over Arizona's fake electors case after an email surfaced in which he told fellow judges to speak out against attacks on Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign for the presidency. In the Aug. 29 email, Maricopa County Judge Bruce Cohen lamented that he didn't speak out when Harris was called a "DEI hire," believes that white men must speak out against unfair treatment of women, and raised a historical lesson from the Holocaust about the need to speak up when people are attacked. Cohen didn't specify who made the comment regarding Harris.
