UPDATE (As of, 12:45 p.m.): Power has been restored to several thousand residents, with roughly 3,700 still left without power. Idaho Power says power will be restored for the remaining customers by 2:30 p.m.

Power went out for thousands of Idaho Power customers in and around Meridian just before 11 a.m. on Monday — more than 14,000 customers are affected, according to Idaho Power.

The issue is mostly affecting Meridian residents, but some nearby residents in Boise and Eagle are also affected.

The cause of the outage is still under investigation, but crews are already on site and Idaho Power hopes to have power restored by 1:30 p.m.

With a large power outage in Meridian, the Ada County Highway District is reminding drivers that should you come across a signal in "dark mode" or "flash mode," to treat the intersection as a four-way stop. When power is out, traffic signals essentially become a stop sign.
