PROVO, Utah ( ABC4 ) — American Airlines is officially flying to and from the Provo Airport.

The first American Airlines flight will land in Provo just after 12:30 p.m. and will take off for Dallas-Fort Worth around 1 p.m., connecting Utah County to one of American's largest hubs and destinations around the world.

"Momentum continues to soar at the Provo Airport with daily American flights making it even more possible to fly from Provo to anywhere in the world," said Provo Mayor Michelle Kaufusi. "The power of increased daily flights means local travelers have even more of an opportunity to connect to American's vast network at DFW, which will be valuable to both business and leisure travelers."

The addition of American Airlines to the Provo Airport list of carriers comes about a year after the airport announced its goals to bring a major carrier and international flights to Utah County. The airport already offers flights from Allegiant Air Breeze Airways .

American Airline's services out of Provo Airport will be using a 65-seat Bombardier CRJ 700 regional aircraft. The flights will offer 44 economy class seats, 12 main cabin extra seats, and nine seats in business class. American Airlines flights will also fly daily to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, in addition to Dallas Fort-Worth.

"American Airlines looks forward to offering four daily flights to Provo starting this November," said Joe Sottile, American's Director of Domestic Network Planning. "American's convenient schedule from PVU to DFW and PHX will enable one-stop connections to more than 200 destinations around the world on our comprehensive global network."

The Provo Airport will be celebrating the addition of American Airlines with an "international tasting table" and Latin American and Polynesian Entertainment. The airport will send the flight off in style with a "water cannon salute" as it taxis onto the runway.
