San Diego's schools are facing major budget shortfalls for the upcoming school year.

To address this, the San Diego Unified School District is inviting the public to a special meeting to provide an overview of what to expect this school year and to discuss potential solutions to address the projected $176 million budget gap for 2025-26.

Earlier this year, the district 's board approved a $1.1 billion spending plan for the upcoming school year that officials said keeps intact core initiatives and programs.

"This will be an informational meeting, and therefore no voting or decisions will be made at the workshop," said a release from the district. "District staff, families, educational partners, and community members are invited to attend."

The meeting will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Monday in the auditorium at Ballard Parent Center, 2375 Congress St., San Diego, 92110.

It will also be live-streamed on YouTube.

An online feedback form will be available for interested people to share input and ideas.
