The Battle of the Harbor between the San Pedro and Banning football teams will be played on a big stage Friday, and that includes the flag football programs.

The Coliseum will host three games that day, starting with the JV football game at 2 p.m. The girls flag football teams will be in action at 5 p.m. The varsity football game begins at 7:30 p.m.

"It's a great opportunity for the girls and for the sport to be on the big stage," San Pedro girls flag football coach Victor Tuberosi said. "We had the opportunity to play at halftime (Aug. 11) at SoFi Stadium and now at the Coliseum. This is great for the girls and great exposure for the game."

Tuberosi said initially the flag football teams weren't part of the plans for the event at Coliseum, but he was able to get the game added.

"I thought it wasn't fair," Tuberosi said, "so I made a couple of phone calls, sent some emails and the opportunity came to get the game added to the schedule. We didn't want to let this opportunity go by."

The San Pedro and Banning flag football teams will be meeting for a third time this season. San Pedro won the first meeting in the L.A. City Classic (37-19) and followed that with a win in the first Marine League game (32-19).

Banning has an overall record of 12-5 and is 5-1 in the Marine League.

"This is going to be a good game," Tuberosi said. "They're (Banning) getting better and better and the program is getting better and better."

In the boys varsity game, the Pirates (5-3, 0-2) and Pilots (4-4, 0-2) are both looking for their first league win of the season.

San Pedro has won four of the last five meetings against Banning. The overall head-to-head record reveals the toughness and competitiveness of the rivalry. In 87 all-time meetings, San Pedro has 43 wins, Banning has 41 and three games have ended tied.
