Search for nut-detecting golden retriever puppy continues in Metairie
METAIRIE, La. ( WGNO ) — The search continues for a missing 8-month-old Golden Retriever puppy that got lost after a car crash in Metairie on Oct. 31.
The dog's owners are not giving up hope that they will find their four-legged friend, "Mav."
"This is has been very difficult. I miss him so much. This empty house, empty cage, it is very painful to look at. I miss my baby. He's our joy," Gracie Langham, owner of Mav said.
Langham's joy is lost, just like Mav, who went missing on Utica Street and Clearview Parkway in Metairie after a car crash.
"All my airbags deployed and the driver door was smashed in. I kicked the door to get us out, and as soon as the door was wide open, that's when he darted out and ran down the street. He was very frightened. I was running after him, crying and screaming his name," she said.

One of the things that makes Mav so special is that he's a service dog that detects nuts, which helps Langham, who's allergic to them.
"He'd actually tell me if there were nuts or not, just by pawing at my shin," Langham said.
Mav is microchipped and every veterinarian within a 10-mile radius has been notified that Mav is missing.
They believe that Mav could've been picked up by drivers in a red car after the car accident.
"Several people noted that but we don't have any dash cam video or the license plate of the vehicle," Langham said.

She went on to say, "Somebody could've picked him up and we're really not sure at this point, so we are doing everything we possibly can to locate him."
They are offering a $5,750 reward for the safe return of Mav.
"It is not if we find him, but when we find him. There's a whole lot of people who want to meet Mav," Langham said.
If you see Mav, you're asked to call the Humane Society of Louisiana, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office or 337-557-1997.
