AVON, Ohio — An undefeated showdown of Southwestern Conference title favorites turned into another romp for Avon.

The Eagles, who are ranked No. 2 in the cleveland.com high school football Top 25 , rolled past No. 11 North Ridgeville for a 38-7 victory that marked their 21st straight Southwestern Conference victory, 24th if counting SWC games in the playoffs.

By no coincidence, Avon coach Mike Elder considered a rematch with the Rangers could come in Division II, Region 6 playoffs.

"We recognize that they're going to make the playoffs," he said, "and we'll probably see them again."

Avon (5-0), which visits Olmsted Falls (4-1), built a 24-point halftime lead and allowed North Ridgeville (4-1) to cross the 50-yard line only once in those first two quarters. Senior quarterback Nolan Good finished with three touchdown passes, including one each to Matt Maxey (91 yards on seven receptions), junior Jakob Weatherspoon (73 yards on two receptions) and Grant Barr.

Good threw for 195 yards on 12-of-17 passing, while Avon's defense came up with four sacks and gave up only 157 yards to the Rangers, who play host next Friday to Elyria (0-5).

See how Friday's game unfolded with the above video and hear from Good, Elder, Weatherspoon, Matt Maxey and defensive end Sam Toniolo.
