Sentencing for East Cleveland police officer found guilty of several charges

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - An East Cleveland police officer found guilty of several criminal charges after a jury trial in Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas is scheduled to be sentenced Thursday. In October, Ian McInnes, 41, was convicted of one count of attempted felonious assault, three counts of assault, three counts of interfering with civil rights, and three counts of dereliction of duty. McInnes was one of 11 former or current East Cleveland police officers indicted in March 2023 by a Cuyahoga County Grand Jury on allegations of violating civil rights and public corruption. According to Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael O'Malley, the alleged crimes happened between February 2020 and July 2022 and there were multiple victims.
