Treasure hunters beware: St. Paul police warn someone may have been passing counterfeit money at Junk Jaunt.

According to a news release, someone noticed money was "fake right away" and immediately contacted the St. Paul Police Department. A witness told police the suspects' vehicle was at another Junk Jaunt sale near by and officers eventually located the two women in question.

During the investigation, the Howard County Sheriff's Office deployed a new K9 and gave a positive indication of the suspect's vehicle.

That led to officers locating some suspected methamphetamine and marijuana as well as finding $1,100 in counterfeit 100 dollar bills.

The St. Paul Police Department says if you had a garage sale, make sure to check your bills and if you suspect one of your bills to be counterfeit, make sure to contact your local law enforcement agency.

Junk Jaunt is a three day sale throughout central Nebraska attracting thousands of visitors to hundreds of yard and garage sales.
