4-star IOL Alai Kalaniuvalu flips commitment from Oregon to BYU
Las Vegas Bishop Gorman four-star offensive lineman and Utah native Alai Kalaniuvalu has flipped his commitment from , he announced Saturday .
Kalaniuvalu had been committed to the Ducks since July 10 and had been joined in their class by offensive line teammate Douglas Utu in September.
Kalaniuvalu is the nation's No. 271 overall prospect in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 20 interior offensive lineman and No. 4 recruit from Nevada in the class.
The 6-foot-3, 297-pound lineman out of Bishop Gorman is now the highest-rated prospect in BYU's 2025 recruiting class. Earlier today, the Cougars also landed American Fork (Utah) Lone Peak three-star offensive tackle Austin Pay .
BYU's pickup in recruiting comes amid a stellar season on the field for the Cougars. They are 8-0 and favored in each of their remaining regular season games following this weekend's bye.
