Storm Center PM Update: Quiet before Rain Chances Return

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — It has been a quiet day across KELOLAND with temperatures warming into the 50s and skies and plenty of sunshine. High pressure in our region has helped our temperatures stay near to above-average and will continue to slowly move off to the east.

Heading into the night, winds will die down and lows will stay seasonable in the 20s and 30s. Skies will stay mostly clear and stay that way heading into the morning.

By tomorrow afternoon, clouds will begin to increase throughout KELOLAND as our next weather system moves in. With light, southerly winds, temperatures will continue to stay above-average for this time of year.

A low-pressure system will make its way into our area going into Friday evening. Rain on the north side of the low will hang around during the day Saturday. Rainfall amounts will stay on the lighter side and rain chances begin to diminish going into Saturday evening. Widespread rain would be welcomed as drought conditions continue to remain unchanged. Cooler air will be brought in for the day Saturday with the rain, but this will not last long as a ridge begins to move back in for the start of the week.

We will continue to warm back to above-average temperatures with mostly dry skies in the 7-day forecast. With a trough moving in Tuesday, there is a small chance for rain with breezy conditions returning.
