Students in Longmeadow, Frontier schools head back to class

B.James3 days ago

LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WWLP) – It's the first day of classes for students in Longmeadow and the Frontier Regional School District.

First day of school for Springfield students

In Longmeadow, it is just the older students starting on Tuesday. Pre-K and kindergarten will go back on Wednesday. All students will return to the Frontier Regional School District on Tuesday.

It is important to keep the students safe on their way to and from school. Make sure to watch for walkers and when a bus flashes red and stops, traffic in both directions needs to stop. While drivers have their responsibility to prevent these kinds of incidents pedestrians do as well. That includes wearing bright-colored clothing, stopping and looking before crossing the street, remaining visible at all times, and crossing streets at crosswalks or intersections when it's safe.

The fine for illegally passing a school bus is a maximum of $200. Repeat offenders may have their licenses suspended.
