Sunny and cooler today; timing weekend rain chance
We're off to a cooler start Thursday morning but temperatures are still above average. We've fallen to the mid 40s and lower 50s. Our average low in Indianapolis on today's date is 38°. Temperatures will rebound to near 60° this afternoon with plenty of sunshine. Again, we will be much cooler than yesterday but this will still be above the average (56°) for today.
Temperatures will be even cooler tonight as they drop into the 30s and low 40s Friday morning. We close the work week with more sunshine and afternoon temperatures that are expected to get back into the low 60s.
We have rain in the forecast this weekend but it won't be a washout. Clouds build in Saturday morning but the rain is expected to hold off until at least the afternoon. Even then, only a few spotty showers are expected Saturday afternoon and early evening. Widespread rain will move in late Saturday evening into early Sunday. Sunday starts wet but these showers will be moving out late morning into the afternoon.
Our mild pattern holds with afternoon temperatures remaining above average through the weekend and on into next week. The return of 70° warmth is possible next Wednesday.
