Elmira, N.Y. (WETM)– High pressure has settled in, but clear skies have come with a freezing start to the day. Can we expect the sun to warm us up? Details below:

TODAY:

For the rest of this morning and afternoon, skies are clear and sunny, and the winds will be light. High pressure is in place today, so aside from freezing temperatures this morning, we'll enjoy pleasant conditions. Temperatures are in the low 50s by this afternoon

TONIGHT:

Tonight, we remain mostly clear, which will help temperatures return to the 20s. High clouds begin to stream in late tonight and overnight ahead of an approaching area of low pressure.

THE WEEK AHEAD:

We'll wake up gray and cloudy tomorrow morning, but by tomorrow evening light, widespread rain will return. Showers taper off overnight, and we'll remain mostly quiet into the start of the weekend.
