Taylorville students send resources to hurricane victims
TAYLORVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — Taylorville CUSD #3 students are sending aid to those still being affected by the recent hurricanes that hit the southeast.
The students want to help the people in Florida and surrounding states that were devastated by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. These tropical storms left many residents in these areas homeless and without many resources.

The Taylorville students created a list of items needed by the victims, designed posters to put up around the school and helped collect donations from students and staff at Memorial Elementary School.
The school district had two rounds of donations sent to local groups that were also collecting for these victims.
The first group of donations was added to Milkmaid Mercantile's collection, and the owner's husband took the items to the affected victims in the southern states. The second round of donations went to First United Methodist Church, which was working with Midwest Missions.
A large number of items was collected, and the school district said they were happy to help these families in this time of need.
