Teen awaiting trial for murder crashes during high-speed chase with Arkansas State Police

TEXARKANA, Ark. ( KTAL/KMSS ) – A murder suspect was re-arrested after a high-speed pursuit in a stolen vehicle ended in a crash on Wednesday.

A news release from the Arkansas State Police said they assisted the Texarkana, Arkansas Police Department in pursuing a stolen vehicle near Garland and Jefferson Avenues in Texarkana on October 2 around 5:30 p.m.

According to ASP, the stolen vehicle driven by the suspect was traveling north on Jefferson Avenue and then turned east on I-30 at about 95 mph. The suspect attempted to pass another vehicle in the median and lost control near the I-30/I-49 interchange, causing it to overturn before resting on its top.

The driver was a 17-year-old from Texarkana, and he was arrested by troopers and transported to the juvenile detention center in Pine Bluff after Christus St. Michael Healthcare provided treatment for injuries.

Police learned that the suspect was awaiting trial for the shooting death of Kendrick Roquemore on September 29, 2023, in Texarkana and was released on a $250,000 bond. Following Wednesday's incident, he faces the additional charges of property theft and fleeing.

Arkansas State Police posted a dashcam video of the pursuit on their YouTube channel.

Miller County Judge Carlton Jones revoked his previous bond and an additional $250,000 bond was added for the new charges.
