The Palm Beach County candidates in election for Sheriff
Palm Beach County voters will select a new Sheriff on November 5.
To give folks an opportunity to hear from the candidates in that race, on Arc Florida, the candidates running for the job have appeared live for "Justice on the Ballot."
To help with that decision, CBS12 News' I-Team Chief Investigators sat down with each candidate on ARC Florida to discuss their perspective on the job and what they hope to achieve.
We have compiled their interviews below. In addition to watching the interviews, you can find more information about them by clicking on their names:
Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw (D) is running for re-election.
Bradshaw became the county's top lawman in 2004, and he says he is still the best man for the job. However, he is facing a challenger next week, Mike Gauger.
Appearing live on ARC Florida, Bradshaw discussed immigration issues in the county, securing former President Trump, and whatever the presidential election brings. He was also asked about his agency's vaccine policy, a cold case he'd like to see solved in his next term, and many other topics in the wide-ranging interview.
Republican Mike Gauger is running to unseat longtime Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw.
Gauger previously served alongside Bradshaw as his chief deputy before retiring.
Appearing live on ARC Florida, Gauger talked about the seven programs he would like to bring back, if elected. He also talked about his criticism of Bradshaw for the security around Trump International Golf Club ahead of the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump. He also talked about the trend of the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office taking over law enforcement responsibilities from several communities, and if he sees that trend continuing.
