Trotwood man found guilty of all charges in 2023 DMAX shooting
DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A Trotwood man has been found guilty of all charges in the 2023 shooting at the DMAX facility in Moraine that left one person dead and another wounded.
Frederick Cox was accused of fatally wounding Jeffrey Allen on May 16, 2023. Prosecutors allege the shooting was a result of Cox's ex-girlfriend beginning a relationship with Allen.
Prosecution and defense testimony took less than three days, with the jury being seated on Tuesday and deliberations starting Thursday.
Testimony Wednesday was dominated by Cox's ex-girlfriend, who testified that she had moved out of the apartment she had shared with him two weeks before the shooting in order to move in with Allen.
In defense testimony Thursday, Allen said the shooting was in self-defense, and that he had been unaware of his ex-girlfriend's new relationship until she testified about it in court.
